Hallgeir Homstvedt completed his BA of Industrial Design with Honours from Newcastle University in Australia. After completing his degree in 2006, Hallgeir went on to work for the much celebrated design studio Norway Says.
In 2009 Hallgeir opened his own design studio, focusing on furniture, interior and product design. As part of establishing an independent studio, Hallgeir exhibited his work in London, Tokyo, Oslo, New York & Milan. Among his clients are renowned Norwegian and international furniture manufacturers like; Lexon, Muuto, L.K.Hjelle, OneNordic and Established & Sons.
Originally I set out to design a modern version of the classic kerosene lamp with the glass chimney and brass tray. In the design process I looked mostly to ceramics and electrical lighting for inspiration. The final design is a hurricane that has a contemporary feel, with clear references to classic candle holders and oil lamps.
The Chamberlight is a versatile lamp, designed for the dark winter months around the dinner table or the long evenings in summer and autumn. The handle makes the light portable and serves as a reminder that the lamp can be moved to different setting in the home or outdoor.
