The Torsteinsen Design team consists of husband and wife Fredrik and Solveig Torsteinsen, plus Vidar Øverby. As well as over 20 years of design experience between them, the trio have backgrounds working in furniture making, carpentry and textiles. Their products, created with an eye for aesthetics and a utilitarian outlook, typify the blend of organic form and human function of the Scandinavian design tradition. Over the years, Torsteinsen Design has exhibited extensively abroad, served as board and jury members for various Norwegian design institutions and worked with a wide range of furniture manufacturers, earning numerous awards – including eight for design excellence from the Norwegian Design Council.
In nature, nothing is constructed, yet all things are perfect. A simple pile of sticks, intertwined and suspended in haphazard chaos, can come together to form a sculpture of unexpected beauty. A modest puddle of rain water, offering a sudden glimpse of sky, can lift the soul.
Stix is a circle of reflection suspended above a seemingly random construction of turned oak spindles. A transparent glass table top allows focus to remain on the craftsmanship and unadorned beauty of the natural wood base.
