Bergen Academy graduates Vera Kleppe and Åshild Kyte’s design studio is based on Norway’s western coast, in Bergen. Here, they bring their shared enthusiasm for new materials, methods and aesthetics to their work on furniture, product design and interior architecture. Building upon (and occasionally rebelling against) Norway’s design heritage, their work – whether developing a new object or designing a space – is driven by a love of discovery and a flair for experimentation; each new piece can be see as an embodiment of that curiosity.
Strictly geometrical, elegant and functional, this lacquered steel room divider and wardrobe is a straightforward invitation to put your things in order. The regularity of the two panels is disrupted by the large round mirror, which lends Apparel boldness while enhancing its function.
Precise and clean-cut in shape but organically uneven, Vera & Kyte’s Topiary lamps have the two-dimensional quality of paper cut-outs. Consisting only of a bulb, stand and rotating reflector, they provide both direct and indirect light and, positioned alongside each other, create a poetic pastel landscape.
