Born in 1983 and initially trained in Italy, Viebeke Skar completed her master’s degree in 2009, combining her studies at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design with work for Frost Produkt. She has worked as a freelance designer since graduating, creating a product collection inspired by Norway’s nature, culture and craft tradition, tempered with her eye for trends and fashion. Her work typically makes use of exclusive materials, blending Nordic elegance with minimalist function-focused form. The unique characteristics of her objects – often achieved by exploring new manufacturing techniques or challenging the nature of the materials used – lend them a distinctive sense of personality, which has helped generate an increasing amount of international interest in Vibeke’s work, and contributed to her winning a number of talent awards in recent years.
