Sanaa Chappelle is the celebrity daughter of comedian, actor, and producer Dave Chappelle and his wife Elaine. Sanaa’s first movie role was at the age of 9 in 2018 alongside her father in the film A Star is Born. She accompanied her father to the film’s premiere at Toronto International Film Festival.

Sanaa Chappelle was born in 2009 to his star father Dave Chappelle and Elaine. She is the sibling to Sulayman born in 2001 and Ibrahim Chappelle born in 2003. Sulayman has a common interest with his father in writing. Sanaa lives with her parents and siblings on their 65-acre farm near Yellow Springs, Ohio.

His acting career began in 1998 with Half Baked, a comedy film he co-wrote. This was followed by films such as Robin Hood Men in Tights, The Nutty Professor, Con Air, A Star is Born, Chiraq, and Buddies. In 2003, he co-created and starred in a comedy sketch series Chapelle’s Show but he quit during the production of season three in 2006.

His fifth Netflix special Sticks and Stones was released in 2019. His jokes about Michael Jackson and R. Kelly, the LGBT community and cancel culture received so much backlash. Netflix released 8:46 in 2020, a 27-minute and 20-second video, a Chappelle stand-up on the YouTube channel Netflix is A Joke. The remake of A Star is Born was released in 2018 and was a commercial success. He went for three stand-up shows in Texas, Austin, and Paramount Theatre in collaboration with Aziz Ansari. In 2018 he was on a duo comedy tour with Jon Stewart across the United Kingdom and in the United States.

He received a backlash from the LGBTQ community in 2021 after his transphobic jokes on his Netflix special. He released a documentary Live in Real Life showing his concerts in Yellow Springs during the COVID-19 pandemic at Tribeca Film Festival, roadshow events in the US and Canada, and limited theatrical in 2021. In 2022 while performing at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California he was attacked on stage by an audience who had a replica handgun.

He released his latest special The Dreamer on December 31 2023 and it debuted at number 5 on the charts with 2.2 million views. He has an open policy with Netflix to receive $20 million for specials and has released six stand-up specials under the deal. Chappelle has an estimated net worth of $70 million. Chappelle married his wife Elaine in 2001 and has three children.
